The Various Types of Garden Fountains

By Maria Tomlinson

Garden fountains can add a splash of color and character to your landscape. There are several types of fountains available, including Pump-included, cascading, metal, and fiberglass. You’ll want to find one that compliments your home’s style and provides a focal point in your landscape.

Pump-included fountains

Pump-included garden fountains are a great way to add an accent piece to your backyard garden or patio. However, you need to consider the maintenance involved. For instance, you must keep the fountain clean and dry in order to avoid the risk of burnout. If the fountain is large, you may want to consider hiring a professional to install it for you.

For this type of fountain, you will need to consider the GPH rating, the height, and the discharge size before purchasing. Some fountains are slightly smaller than others, but these aren’t a cause for return. Pump-included garden fountains will add a soothing ambiance to your garden.

You should also consider the location of your fountain. You should avoid placing larger fountains against something, because you will need full access to refill the water. You should also consider the location of any electrical connections if the fountain needs a constant supply of water. In addition, you should be sure to choose a place where the water will be safe for children and pets.

Pump-included garden fountains are also more affordable than their larger counterparts. The pump is typically installed under the base of the structure, and water flows into the base via a small pond. Some fountains have a basin at the base of the waterfall to redirect the falling water. You might also want to consider a homemade fountain in which the pump is housed in a bucket underneath the main structure.

The type of water movement in a pump-included garden fountain will affect the visual appeal. A gentle stream will be more pleasing to the eye than a forceful stream. The materials of the fountain are also important. Ceramics are available in a variety of vibrant colors, while lightweight fiberglass is an excellent option for outdoor fountains. You can also look into casting concrete, which resembles stone.

Cascading fountains

Cascading fountains are a beautiful way to create a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere in your outdoor space. They feature cascading streams of water that flow from a top level to a lower one and are recirculated using the included pump. Many fountains are designed to be placed indoors, but some are also suitable for use outdoors.

The type of cascading fountain you choose will depend on the style of your garden and the area it is placed in. For instance, a large waterfall that fits in perfectly with a country setting may look out of place in a city garden. A miniature cascade water feature may be more suitable in a smaller area. For added effect, you can install a lighting system in a cascading fountain. This can be more expensive, but will enhance your outdoor activities at night.

If you are not satisfied with the design of your garden fountain, you can choose a simple one that looks great and is low maintenance. Small fountains with a small base will be shipped via UPS Ground, while larger ones will be shipped LTL. Make sure to have someone available to receive the fountain and supervise the delivery. For larger fountains with large water basins, you may need to arrange a forklift prior to delivery.

Cascading fountains are an excellent way to create a relaxing atmosphere. You can find an attractive, contemporary fountain that matches modern furniture or a classic, oriental-style fountain. Some people choose a fountain based on the sound it makes. If the sound is too faint to be appreciated, you may not find the right fountain for your garden.

Fiberglass fountains

Fiberglass garden fountains are a great choice if you’re trying to find a lightweight water fixture. Unlike stone or resin fountains, fiberglass is incredibly lightweight, making them easy to transport and place anywhere in the yard. And, because they’re made of fiberglass, they’re easy to clean. Hard water deposits won’t stick to the fiberglass, and most rust-removal products won’t stain them either.

Fiberglass is a durable material, but it is difficult to sculpt, making it not a perfect choice for delicate and detailed garden fountains. Despite its durability, fiberglass is quite brittle, which means it can chip and fade over time. However, fiberglass garden fountains are easily repaired with a water-proof spray finish. Since fiberglass garden fountains are manufactured in bulk, they are typically less expensive than other materials.

The two Piece Fountain comes with everything needed for assembly. It ships with a back plate, pump, and spout connection. For best support, you should install the fountain next to a wall. The pump includes a 12′ cord. Be sure to support the back plate with a solid structure if you live in a freezing climate.

Fiberglass outdoor garden fountains come in many different styles and designs. You can find lightweight, multilevel fountains that resemble rocks, or more elaborate models that are reminiscent of stone. These fountains also come in a variety of designs, from Japanese-style to classic garden wall fountains. Unlike their stone counterparts, fiberglass fountains are lighter and easier to move around in the garden. And because they can withstand heat, moisture, and even freezing temperatures, they’re also more durable than stone fountains.

Another difference between fiberglass and resin is the material. Resin garden fountains are less durable and are more difficult to clean than fiberglass. However, they can be more expensive and heavier than fiberglass. And they may need to be replaced more often. The good news is that fiberglass is a composite material, so lime deposits don’t stick to them as much. A soft cloth or toothbrush should be used to clean them. A fiberglass garden fountain won’t crack under the effects of freezing and thawing, but it should be fully drained during winter months.

Disappearing fountains

Disappearing fountains are a great way to add a relaxing sound and sight to your garden. They are easy to install and can be a unique and special feature to your landscape. Although they may seem complicated to install, they are much easier than you think. There are several factors that need to be considered before you make the decision to install one in your garden.

One of the first things you must do is to remove any existing plants. Then, you should replant with fresh flowers or shrubs. This way, you will have a beautiful garden year-round! To make sure that your new fountain will stay fresh, you should regularly check the water level. You can also use a shop vac to remove debris from the area around the fountain.

Another thing that needs to be considered when installing a fountain is the size of the water basin. Most fountains require at least a hundred gph of water to be fully functional. It should also be noted that installing a fountain in an existing pond is dangerous. Make sure you know where any underground utilities are before beginning the project. Also, keep in mind that fish and plants need specialized water filtering and treatment.

You can also install a self-contained fountain. These are ideal for gardens as they usually have their own reservoir, meaning that you don’t have to worry about water running out. You will also need a power source to run the fountain. You can install a solar panel or batteries to run it, or you can plug it into an electrical outlet.
